Influencing Predictors of Quality of Life in Colorectal Cancer Patient with Colostomy

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify predictors of quality of life in colorectal cancer patient with
colostomy. The predictors of quality of life were the subject¡¯s general disease characteristics and personal resources.

Method: 62 colorectal cancer outpatients with colostomy who visited in hospital participated in the study. The data were analysed with descriptive analysis, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression.

Result: The score of quality of life in colorectal cancer patients with colostomy was 47.92 point. There was a statistically significant difference between quality of life and ostomy management education, depression. Depression was anticipated variable on the patient¡¯s quality of life(adjusted R2=.2492).

Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, development of nursing intervention program including reduction of depression can be suggested.
